Looks like a nice trek avocado, I like my hiking/tramping as well, normally do one big hunting trip a year back to NEw Zealand where we fly into remote wilderness by helicopter and set up a base camp and hunt from there camping out a few nights before heading back to base camp. Also enjoy long hikes into remote areas to access good hunting or fishing areas.

Also a big believer in barefoot, do all my workouts barefoot even in the gym, run in minimalist shoes and wear flat shoes every where else

Cheers

Post by Avocadoshake on Sat Aug 03, 2013 5:24 am

Thanks fbd.

I had a new pair of Merrell Tough Gloves which provided more than enough protection from the rocks and stones.
My feet were doing extremely well. All the others had aching feet and blisters.

But my calves now feel, like they're going to explode and my back and shoulders are slightly sore.

Looking at my other flat shoes, the Merrells barely qualify as barefoot, because the sole is much more rigid, but that was very much appreciated.

However, I have to wear orthopedic insoles, to support my footbed. Outdoors I mostly walk/ run with shoes on.
At home and with my workouts, I'm usually barefoot.

Then I still very much believe in foot agility and strengthening. So I hope to reap the benefits from the insoles and the barefoot work.

Still with the custom insole the barefoot shoes are very minimal, compared to regular ones.
In winter I have my Mukluks.

Thanks Iliander, I like the area, you're living in as well.

Actually, I'm pretty bad at hiking in nature. I'm more used to hike in urban areas.

I thought of that as well, but one third of that hike were natural steps. Very difficult to ride unless you're a master of trail.
But then, mind the hikers.:toothy:

More than 2,500,000 steps completed today! Only 6,712/ day needed, to reach 3,500,000 by the end of the year, that leaves room for more stroller running when the temperatures get a bit cooler.

Congrats on the early attainment of your goal Avo! I saw that you were going to knock the snot out of that goal way before year end.

And yes, that single track trail looks awesome for riding but big, rocky stair steps? Not so much.

Thank you guys. I never thought, I'd reach the steps this fast, but I do about 9,000 - 10,000 every day with the stroller.

Flora demands her afternoon nap, being pushed around - don't stop, unless you want to wake her.

Add a few errands every now and then and you have it.

Thank you dog, could you please specify where you see the quality most?

I personally see the quality a lot in the food, but I really play with the thought of IF, mainly, because there are days, when I get to eat breakfast around 11 am, until all is done and the family is fed and taken care of.

Just have to figure out the days and experiment, maybe during my fun week next week.

I use carbohydrates strategically.

I now do my mobility/ yoga in the morning.
The pull work, when I pass a bar mostly.
The foot work in between, mostly picking up random toys off the floor or playing with the foot bag.

And a real training session in the evening with warmup, usually foam rolling and stretching, finished by the grip work before going to bed. All one block in about 50 - 60 min, when Flora sleeps, because I can no longer haul heavy objects around with her walking around.

I just started a new notebook for my sessions today (started in feb. this year), I will compare the weights/ exercises later, when time permits.
