Well, I'm leaving Denmark on Tuesday. I still haven't received my visa, but I really hope I get it within this week. Applied Monday.
Other than that, paper work is done with. I just need to pack.

I'm seriously thinking of bringing my gymnastics rings. I think they could come in REALLY handy. I have an awesome idea of hanging them up at a public place like a playground or something, and maybe have a lot of local children come hang out with me. That could be so much fun!
I'll be living in a town called Funabashi in the Chiba prefecture.

On the home front... well :geg:

Every single evening, my mother complains about to my father. Tonight she got directly nasty. I only overheard it, so I believe she didn't know I actually know. I've never heard her talk that way to or about my dad. She was drunk/tipsy when she said it, but you know the saying "you get the truth from children and drunk people"... or maybe you don't, but it's a Danish saying, anyways.
He's going on his traditional fishing trip with some old school mates, and she b**** about it. I feel like telling her to go on a F'ing trip on her own, but she doesn't do that either! Dafuq do you want?! You can't give him a fishing trip?! :wth:
*sigh*

I am SO ready to go and get out of here, though I feel very sorry for my dad, having to handle my mom all on his own :( I know it isn't my responsibility, but she can't leave him alone.

Ohwell, soon, I'll be in Japan where it's currently about 15-20 degC warmer than in DK, having a blast eating my belly full of fishy sushi and stinky sticky beans (nattou - look it up). Needless to say, I'm looking forward!

Sushi and Soba and Miso! I've seen nattou but never tried it....
Anyway, I wish you the bestest on your upcoming adventure. Sorry to hear about the home situation but there's nothing you yourself can do now and you're right that it isn't your responsibility :pale: all you can do is hope that things change for the better? And if not, support your dad the best you can from afar, I suppose.

I will bring the rings. I will not only be the blue-eyed blond recording herself with a camera on a stick... they are deemed to attract attention!

I'll do my very best. One thing is just showing videos on the interwebz, another thing is using my English on video on the interwebz, and a third would be to walk around recording myself in public.

I hope it'll get easier with time...

I remember when I first put up video for all to see. You remarked it was GOOD to hear a dialect to go with the person. I look forward to hearing your English!
I lived in Germany for 5 years as a kid. I moved all around the states also. I've heard English and "American" in all it's splendor! I love it!

I try to hide my accent. I've used quite a few! First was probably... standard Danish accent, though I don't actually remember using it.
Then probably American. I've used the Australian accent, too. Got a remark from a native Englishman that it was really good!
Then, becoming a fan of Queen, I switched to British, and have used that until pretty recently. Until summer 2012 or something.

Now I'm back at American :zaru:

I'm a master in pseudo swears! Although I'm not religious, I just don't really feel comfortable swearing - part of my upbringing. I'm not very good at swearing in Japanese, though.

It can be used for entertaining, IMO. On certain message boards, it's easier expressing yourself using swear words. It's part of the jargon.

But only on the internet.

I didn't make it - I just found it

I'm on a Naruto message board (nerd... yes), and after every chapter, there's usually so-called "edit threads", where people use some of the best panels and edit them.

That is actually one of the main reasons I started reading the manga. Not only because a lot was spoiled, because I just HAD to peek, but also because I found the edits. I've laughed my @ss off from some edits! Cried in laughter, and my parents thought I was going insane.

Brings me so much joy [You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Re: Room to Improve

Post by Bissen on Wed Jun 05, 2013 8:57 am

I know I don't really log my workouts here, but I do log them properly in my little Black Book!

I lost quite a bit of strength (especially on the squats) during the first month here, due to... well, lack of training.

Volume is higher than before I left for Japan. Currently at 5x5 @65kg on the front squat. No idea what my current 1RM is.
Hit a PR on 140kg deadlift (a +10 kg from previously), though form wasn't perfect.

I'm still following the GB workout, and and seeing improvements. It's really brutal. I mean, really. I suck so badly at high rep stuff, but I guess it's a good thing I work on it...

Knee's bothering me sometimes, and atm I'm also trying to improve my ankle flexibility (in particular), which may have caused me to overdo it slightly. Right achilles is tight (painfully, at times).

Oh, handstands are coming along pretty darn well. I'm finally getting it pretty well aligned!

Other than that, doing a lot of city biking, walking, learning Japanese, teaching English... I have Wednesdays off from school, but have some teaching in the PM. These days always disappear immediately!

Yeah, it's that knee. It's not popping so badly now, since I learned better techniques (form) and possibly also since strengthening it.

While not super-duper, it's better. I think. Can't sit in the same position for too long at a time, though.

Re: Room to Improve

Post by Bissen on Thu Jun 27, 2013 7:15 am

Little update.

I'm currently having a de-load week, and Monday was supposed to be [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] on front squat, but I felt good and thought "why not..." - and did [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.] :zaru:

Sunday, I craved green. Forest. The sound of no cars. Ended up going to a forest about 35km away. If you go by car. Which I did not. Went by bike. Ended up taking quite a detour (including riding up and down mountains), resulting in a total of around 90km. On my bike. My bike with no gears.

I felt fine the day after, though, but the effects may have waited until Wednesday, where I felt pretty bad. Sluggish, tired and all. Today's no different. I'll make sure to do only what's prescribed during my workouts, so I can recover and hit 5x5@70kg on my front squats on Monday!

Other than that, still doing the GB work, still tough as ***.

*CRASH*
Well, lesson learned. I think I've been overreaching/overtraining for a while.

Started feeling worse and worse the past few weeks, leaving me feeling horrible from last week. Will take a light week, and cut back volume. Went to failure too often.

I must constantly remind myself that workouts should leave me ENERGIZED (at least a an hour or so after I finish) instead of leaving me feeling crappy for the rest of the day. Workouts are to make me improve - not to beat myself up...

May even cut 5 working days down to 4, squatting 2 days per week instead of three. This may also leave me with more room/energy for some cardio type stuff, which I could definitely need.

*Sigh*

What a change, though! Used to be, you could hardly muster the energy or "want to" to get out in your barn and do something!
I agree, slow down a bit until you feel the work in a good way.
Good to hear from you 8)

Yeah... Actually eating what I should probably helps (go figure) ;)

Last Monday, I did 10x3 front squats (ATG) at 67.5kg. Felt great. BUT, combining that with my 90km bike ride (without enough food) MAY have done more bad than good. I had imagined 5x5@70kg would be easy, but I stayed with 5x3.

Oh well. I'll hit it soon enough. Strength isn't necessarily upping numbers, but sometimes all the small, invisible things that happen. Like stability...

Things happening in my life, but training is really not a big one of them... but it will be!

Hyper extended elbow, family crap, lots of horses, twisted knee and other stuff just threw me out of the game.

I'm currently looking into moving back to the town where my parents live and where the horses are. I don't have much school next semester (5-9 hours/week) so moving would be a good idea. Also, I may have gotten myself a job in the town, it'll be easier to take care of the horses and dogs, and I WON'T HAVE TO SEE MY PARENTS MUCH!

My mum is not keeping her promises/our deals, and our relationship just keeps heading one way.

Moving back will also give me more of a "base". I was tired of living a "double life" and not really be settled anywhere. Moving will make me able to finally get into MMA of which I've dreamed for quite a while.

I have one year to go at uni, and then I need to figure out how the heck to get an income that'll have me survive. :|

I'm still in the search of a place to live though, but not looking too good :(

Sounds like life's ups and downs continue… Hang in there! It sounds like there are some good things on the horizon and you are working through the challenges life throws your way!

Can't do much else. I'm really doing better than I recall having for years.

Sometimes time apart is all that's needed for people to realize how much they really mean to each other and keep things on the positive side for those rare moments they do share together. Hopefully this happens with you and your parents.
