Secondly, the BAD (as in so bad, if I ever see any of you guys purposefully doing this, I may have to slap some people).

Yeah, those are some ugly pushups in the second vid.

Something that probably doesn't require explaining here, but if the whole point of a variant is to make it harder, why cheat...?

It would be understandable if he was just working into it, but he's "instructing" people, so yeah what gives?

The hip push-ups in the second vid are absolutely horrible. When I was relatively new to most of this stuff I used to think a hip push-up was done as in the second video, and a pseudo planche push-up as in your vid. I believe I once did a workout with 5 sets of 20 "hip push-ups" (or similar), which must've been of horrible form lol.

Hands at hip level, and no change in shoulder angle, is indeed the only way to do a hip push-up.

I would also push for a bit more protraction at the top of each rep, personally. Something I need to work on. But yeah, Jman, there's no point in cheating if you're doing them as a harder variant.

Have you tried it with pointed toes? I tried it today, first getting into max lean on toes and then pointing them straight back like in a handstand. Felt a bit different!

My toes are pointed in the video. I think if you look at it the only time they aren't pointed is when I keep my self from sliding around the 3rd or 4th rep. It's definitely different. Should've gotten the whole body on the camera.

So two nights ago, I decided to try the at the hip push up...I leaned like in Josh's video and wow...talk about pressure on the wrists. I tried to get myself down into the hole but it was ugly.

So i would not count as a success. you guys make this stuff easy
