Quote of the Month

Post by Dave on Sat Jan 19, 2013 1:38 am

We should be recognizing excellent quotes. I'll turn this into a poll once I see some good quotes presented, and the quote with the most votes will adorn the homepage for the month of February. Then we'll pick the February quote to adorn the homepage in March, etc.

So let me make the first nomination:

Re: Quote of the Month

Post by Journeyman on Sun Jan 20, 2013 7:32 pm

Not member quotes, but....

"A very cold bedmate, the barbell. Unflinching in its solidity, staunch of stance and utterly committed to its tight partnership with gravity. No amount of mental trickery or inscrutable conniving will alter its position and the physicality of fact it carries. "

"You take the f*cking bar from the floor and drive it over your head. You do it over time consistently and you can lift more. D@mn, I am so sick of trying to find some easy secret way around that simple yet beautiful truth. And don't the men who make money from this stuff just love to tell you different. Scapular this and that, rep speed cr@p, serratus magnus minimalus and on and on and on. Get in there and PRESS already. Put the bloody bar over your head. Strictly with a pause at the bottom, bouncy bouncy fast up down, jerked just enough to grind through the sticking point, partially from chin/nose/forehead and every other way you can come up with. This whole lifting thing is really starting to mirror the pathetic spineless attitude of our civilization as it is lately."

"If you want power, lift a loaded barbell over your head. If you want bulk, eat a lot of meat and drink a lot of milk."

^ Found in archives of dead forums.

"The strength for the sake of pride and honor. It is the strength of the feelings that doesn't get rusty in hard times. It is the physical and spiritual strength when a man is always a man. Celebration of strength without this sense is an activity not very different from animal life."
-Yuri Vlasov on the 'Russian tradition' of strength.

"At the peak of tremendous and victorious effort, while the blood is pounding in your head, all suddenly becomes quiet within you. Everything seems clearer and whiter than ever before, as if great spotlights have been turned on. At that moment you have the conviction that you contain all the power in the world, that you are capable of everything, that you have wings. There is no more precious moment in life than this, the white moment, and you will work very hard for years just to taste it again."
Vlasov again.

I mean yeah we'll be healthier but do you really want jackbooted thugs kicking down your door to force you to do Cheesedog workouts until you love Big CheeseBrother?
