"Neo...grab me a beer or something, It's hot out here!"

Yeah, I cannot believe I forgot yoda's line from Star wars.
I watched the original 3 films dozens of times as a child and was so impressed at Lukes' backflips I wanted to start doing gymnastics, but it didn't work out.

I literally felt sick when I heard Disney had secured the contract for the next three. It's like someone is digging up the good parts of my childhood and destroying them.

If that wasn't bad enough, they're redoing robocop. Kiniman is a good actor, but they're making a kids movie out of a perfectly mature and watchable story. Robocop was like Frankenstiens monster/man in the iron mask/Darth Vader.

Now that I look at it, the fight scene between Bane and Batman in The dark Knight Rises and the showdown between Vader and Luke in The Empire Strikes Back are very similar scenes. Which may explain why I've watched that fight scene about 6 times now.

And Bane/Vader are way more interesting Char's than Luke/Batman IMO.

Now you've got me talkin' bout movies, I'll never be able to stop now.

Thought there was areal somersaults in there too.

Mads, these are what I have -
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
But, I wouldn't get these because of lack of wrist support. You'd still have to wrap your wrists.

I recommend the kind with wrist supports built in. Like these- If you can afford them-

Madman wrote:Three meals a day is pretty low calories for someone trying to bulk up.

Not if you get enough calories in the three meals. 3 x 1,000 = 3,000.

That's what people did in the days before protein supplements - it worked quite well.

Madman wrote:By 'mass gainer' I mean the stuff with added carbs and fats.

I generally have a very low opinion of 'mass gainers'. They are effective, but the mass gained is not really the kind of mass you want to gain. But maybe there are some good ones, check bodybuilding forums, etc., for reviews.

One thing I can tell you from observation and experience - unless you eat solid food, you will not be able to gain much mass, regardless of how much liquid supplements you consume. It doesn't happen, period.

Madman wrote:It's def got more sugar than a resting person needs, but I think that the kind of person that does 60 sets of pullups in an hour should be more worried about loss of consciousness, tachycardia, loss of motor skills, tendonitis, hallucinations, and non delayed DOMS.

@ Itlives
Okay, so I should either use bag gloves or wraps+bag gloves, unless I already have decent callouses.
I saw some cheap assed mma gloves at the store, but they looked useless cause they had little if any padding, and I didn't think I could fit my wrapped hands in them anyway. I guess the texture of the gloves causes the punches to glance off without any friction, instead of grinding against my knuckles. I'll def be buying some. Thanks Itlives! :boxer:

@Fatman
It's a question of how much I can eat at each meal, I always eat until I'm full and never gain any weight. Some folks say "eat until you can't eat any more!" but spending the rest of the day trying to keep a meal down kills my appetite anyway.
3 full meals of 800 get's me 2400, 3 shakes of 350 gives me 1050. 3450 in total, with less vomiting.
I don't count calories, so I'm guessing the 3 meals I eat, obviously my breakfast lunch and dinner aren't the same size.
And I'm not doing any "liquid only diets", solid food is still emphasized .

In the days before supplements, guys like me would claim to be "hard gainers" with "fast metabolisms", but today we call that bullsh*t.
If you gotta eat five times per day, then do it. IMO.

Such person is in for some serious back hypertrophy, a feeling of incredible well being and a great sense of accomplishment. ;) And a whole lot less soreness than you might think... but yes fairly sore lats for a day or so.

60 sets of pullups is no joke, so I'm gonna do them at some point just to prove that they're difficult. but still doable...exception that proves the rule.

I did a lot of sets of 4, then went down to 3......2......1 as the hour progressed. If I remember right, I got around 240. I'll have to go find it. None of the symptoms you mentioned :whew:

edit- I was right 240 in one hour. BWC (sorry for the bad word) is still messed up. I had to scroll through 4-5 pages of spam to get to last years pull-up challenge.

Last month I was doing tons of volume, but now I can't even do a few squats without falling apart.
Considered the hour pullup challenge, but my heart wasn't in it, figuratively and literally.

Pullups:
5x5, 5x4.

It's something.

If squats are that much of an issue, I'd suggest just sticking with bench and DL on your volume sessions for now, and giving both of those 100%, and throwing in 5.00-10.00 of some bodyweight squat variant at whatever pace you want after one or both of your main lifting sessions. That'll improve your wind and won't be as rough on your recovery.

Traps will come with more deadlifting, though doing some shrugs after DL if you have energy and your hands can take it, would help even more.
Keep lifting and eating and you'll definitely grow--looks like your shoulders might have some potential, you might wanna look into more heavy direct training when your current bench thing has run its course--though I wouldn't be thinking about cutting sleeves off any tshirts just yet, haha.

Okay, so I overestimated by mass by a little, but take into consideration that I'm about as level headed as spongebob squarpants :loopy:

Are you saying I should drop fridays completly? It would make sense, I can't really push squats right now, seeing as how I have the cardiac output of a...sea sponge. But I gotta do something on fridays, maybe upper body? cardio only?

Today may be the last time I do squats for a while. I take no pleasure in watching my progress move backward.
03/05/2013

10,08. 5 min rest.

Had a so-so day today.

09/05/2013

Bench@80#
10x10

Handstand
2.5 mins

Skull crushers@2x10#
20,15,15

Felt sick again, so I didn't do any cardio, had to cut the handstands short as-well.
On the upside, I'm tightening up the rest periods on the benches, so only the last 3 or so sets have more than 90 sec of rest.

Yeah, I want to find the happy medium between high freq and high volume. Doing nothing for days at a time makes it harder for me to "get back into it". I get extremely lazy when I have free time.

A couple of days ago I was gonna post my new weight (140), but I've slipped back down to nearly 135 again. :|
Clearly not eating hard enough.

Yesterday wasn't as much as I wanted, but still a rough outline of what I had in mind.

14/05/2013

Workout-1

Wrestler bridge:3x1 mins

Headstand (hand assisted)
2x1.5 mins

Pushups:3,6,9,12,15

Pullups:2,4,6,8

Squats:2x25

Workout-2

Leg lifts:3x12

Pulllups:8,6,6

Pullup hang: 60sec, 45sec,45sec

Wrestlers bridge: 1.5 min, 1.5 min.

Pushups:3x10

Workout-3

Pullups:2x6

Wrestlers bridge:1.5 mins, 1.5 mins.

Thanks!

The pullups were less than my usual, but I had been doing them here and there through-out the week.
It hurt my recovery a little, but I didn't want to just sit around and wait to do them.

My lower back was giving me some grief, so I skipped fri/sat.

Today:

19/05/2013

Shrugs:
120lbs, 10x10
70lbs, 4x20

bridge:2x2min

Neck curls:35,25,25

pullups:8,8,7

hang from bar:3x30seconds

leg lifts: 10,10,9,8

Had a good workout today.

20/05/2013

Bench:
80lbs, 10x10, (90 sec rest periods on all sets!)

Handstand: 5 min

Skull crushers
2x10lbs, 30,18,15 (30reps was PRR!)

Squats:40-30.

There is definitely something about super high reps that helps to gain mass/strength, I'm starting to wonder about high rep neck exercises.

I'm gonna at-least do some more squats tomorrow, I desperately need the cardio.

Ask TheMasterKey about high rep neck exercises. He's doing extensions with 20 pounds for 300 reps!

TMK pointed me in the direction of Mike Bruce, who is some sort of neck aficionado.
I'm gonna read some of his articles tomorrow, cause right now it takes about 10 mins to load a bloody webpage.

Yesterday I did some squats, 4x30.
nothing amazing.

Today:
22/05/2013

crunches:16,12,12

Leg Lifts:10,10,10,06

Pushups: 3x16

Squats:50

Bridge:2x1:30

Tomorrow is deadlift day! hooray! :laugh2:

ah, neck work! Hey Dave that's insane, I would snap my neck from that routine. I have to give his log one more look through.

Good work Madman, I like that you keep working neck and abs, building the whole chain from toes to scalp. I kinda like high reps as well, really high sometimes. 50 rep sets are pretty nice for shrugs, neck, hamstrings and grip for me. Must get back to using finishers like that!

Thanks.

I noticed that your workouts are a combination of low reps/singles, and higher rep stuff.
Best of both worlds I see!

Yesterday:

23/05/2013

Deadlifts:
170lbs, 4 sets of 8 reps

Pullups in 10 mins: 42

Reverse Curls:
40lbs, 12,8,8
20lbs, 20,15,15

Shrugs:
50 lbs, 35,30,30

I may workout today too, but I'm pretty darn sore.

Yeah I know. Yesterday I did 100 reps of neck flexion with my head hanging off the bed and even just that was enough to make my neck and jaw sore for a couple days...

Last night 24/05/2013

Bridge:2x2mins

Pullup bar hangs: 60,40,35,30,30sec

Leg lifts:4x10

--------------------
Today: 25/05/2013

Shrugs:
120lbs,10x10
70lbs, 5x20

Neck curls:30,25,25,25

Pullups:8,6,5

Leg lifts:4x12

I know that if I hit my Traps with a-lot of reps all of the time they're gonna grow. It worked with my lats, which were literally non-existent until I did high volume pullups 4days/week.

Happy saturday!

Thanks guys.

Brahma's Vaslov quote creeps me the eff out.

31/05/2013

Wrestler bridges (seconds)
120,90,60,30

Leg lifts:
5x10

Pushups: 4x10

Staleness is becoming an issue. I'm thinking of changing things outside of my two main workouts.
