A Muscle Building Diet for Dinos! - Your thoughts?

Post by squatty on Fri Mar 22, 2013 4:35 am

Kurt Kubiks sent this to my email recently:
Code:
Breakfast

1 large glass of fruit juice
2 glasses of whole milk
3 or 4 eggs
5 strips of bacon or other meat
2 slices of whole wheat toast with
butter, honey or peanut butter

Lunch

2 thick meat and cheese sandwiches
on while wheat bread
2 glasses of whole milk
1 bowl of thick homemade soup
Fresh fruit for desert

Dinner

1 bowl of thick homemade soup
1 large serving of meat, fish,
turkey, chicken, etc.
2 glasses of whole milk
One baked potato with butter
or cheese
1 bowl of raw vegetable salad
Fresh fruit for desert

I have seen similar bulking diets in the past too.
But to follow these diets, you have to be a king here, I mean you have to be very rich, and I really mean VERY RICH!
I want to know if following such a diet is possible for the ordinary person in west or not?
Can you afford such a diet?

Given my all-you-can-eat meal plan, yes

Anyone game to try and calculate the costs?

There's no need to eat such a wild variety at a single meal and there are those who would argue that it is even inefficient for digestion and therefore potentially detrimental to your health.

Just eat more.

And FYI, I used to eat breakfast that consisted of the following:

Toast
Fruit
Oatmeal
Eggs
Tea

It was a big breakfast by anyone's standards, and yet I did not gain while eating thus.

But this past year I have succeeded in gaining nicely by (generally) eating big breakfasts of only eggs and potatoes, lunches of eggs and veggies and dinners of fish and veggies. The only thing is that I did not force feed or eat super often, and therefore did not make super gains. I only ate as needed (and perhaps a bit more) in moderation and made moderate gains.

I rarely eat any breakfast, but I want to gain weight (although not "bulking", I hate the fat gain of bulking cycles). I want to gain weight slowly, like 10kg in one or two years.
I don't have much money or many options.
Unfortunately, any diet article sounds like "bad news" to me, because they all bash the most available food options around me. like bread.
I wish there was some article out there, which said bread is awesome for building muscle.
Anyway, I want to start eating 3 bread+cheese sandwiches for breakfast to kick start my weight gain journey.
I know I will not look great naked with such a diet, but if I do it slowly and correct I will not look horrible with cloths either.
I mean I will have some belly fat, but it will not be visible with clothes on.
No belly fat at all is impossible with such a high carb diet (Honestly, I doubt I will have no pinch-able belly fat at all on a western low-carb high-protein diet either...)

Bread is fine for building muscle. The problem with bread is that it causes a large and rapid rise in blood sugar- so eating lots of it is bad for your fat levels and long term, bad for your health. Also, bashing bread is "in" right now so everyone is jumping on the bandwagon. However, huge sandwhiches are a great muscle builder, load them up with meat and mayo (I also add lots of spinach).

I consider cheese a great muscle builder, it's loaded with protein, good fat and lots of calories.

Can you find the nutrition information on the foods you can get? I usually choose foods on that alone, I look for foods with protein, high calories, no added sugar, instead of looking at diet articles.

That diet looks similar to mine, but double the quantity. I drink milk for breakfast but mostly because I am not a morning person. I can drink milk driving to work and it tides me over until my first real meal, if I try to eat solid food in the morning I can barely eat anything and don't have time to eat it anyway.

Here is what I ate yesterday:

Breakfast: 0.5L milk

Snack: Chicken sandwhich with spinach and lots of mayo
Apple slice with as much peanut butter as can fit
0.5L milk

Second Snack: Another identical chicken sandwhich
More apple slices with peanut butter
0.5L milk

Dinner: Rice with coconut curry chicken- vegetables, chicken, coconut milk, curry (protein, lots of calories, lots of nutrients)
2L milk

Somewhere in there I drank another half liter of milk because at the end of the day, the jug was empty.

I try not to over think things, for my eating it's: meat, calories, milk, make sure you get vegetables in.

Here it is in simple form. This is how I ate when I was younger and more in to size & gym strength. This was at my biggest of 255-260lb
Meal 1. 12 Eggs,1-1 1/2 cups of oats and 8-16oz of milk
Meal 2. 2 cans of fruit, 2 cans of veggies & 8 oz milk.
Meal 3. 2 double burgers,2 Fries, & XL tea
Meal 4. 8-16 oz Milk, 1 cup of yogurt, & 2-3 cans tuna(dry right from can)
Meal 5. Meat product chicken, beef,& fish with tea or milk.-lots of times it was dinner at parents house.
Meal 6. 32oz Ice Cream mixed with milk.

Now remember I was not thinking of lean muscle I was thinking weight and size. All I cared about was moving weights in the gym and being a monster.

I trained 2-3 hours 6x a week
Monday-Legs because everyone does chest,so I did legs
Tuesday-Shoulders and Arms
Wednesday-Back
Thursday-Chest
Friday-Mixed Workout Work on weak areas
Saturday- Rest
Sunday- Legs

Just curious Squatty, when you say bread are you talking about the zero nutritional value, bleached flour, sugar added, white bread so common to the western diet? Or are you eating something that's milled and baked locally?

The western breads are called "fantasy bread" here. and few people like to eat them.
The bread I eat is called Sangakk.
Here is some pictures of this whole grain bread:
