Push and Pull

Post by Journeyman on Wed Apr 10, 2013 2:19 am

10 weeks to the IPA Strength Spectacular, where I'll be competing in deadlift (and possibly bench) with the Strongfirst Deadlift Team.
Aiming for a 3x bodyweight pull and (again, maybe) bodyweight +100lb bench, lifting in the 148 class.

4/9/13
One arm pullup attempt 1x partial right arm--got to just above parallel and stalled out
Deadlift 245x5x4 sets, RBRDL 245x5x1 set, just because
Leg press 295x20 pr
Bench 125x8, 7, 5
one arm kb press 16kg x20/20

--Starting out super super light here. Haven't lifted in two weeks. Running linear cycles on both bench and DL. This is the first time I've done real full range benches... I've never been serious about bench to begin with, so yeah, starting out with paperweights here.

Good luck Jman!

Just wondering, weren't you gonna aim for 30 pull-ups or something as well?

No not now because the TSC isn't necessary anymore (with its pullup and snatch events). One arm chins have/had me doing 25 full, strict, paused pullups without training them, so if it ain't broke why try to fix it... my pullup goal is to be repping OApullups by the end of the summer, with each arm. 30+ pullups should be a breeze at that point, if I want to, if past experience is any indicator.... Any high rep upper body pulling for the foreseeable future will be done with rows and shrugs and other things to help my DL lockout.

Do you want me to delete this thread or merge it with your Training with Purpose thread?
