is 48 hours of recovery enough?

Post by Guest on Sun Apr 14, 2013 2:05 am

i've been sticking to that bodyweight routine this whole time and i think my muscles are getting used to it. so much so that i think i can workout each of my muscles 3 times a week. here is what i'm planning to do next.

mon: pushups, rows, and leg raises
tues: squats and bridging
wed: pushups, rows, and leg raises
thur: squats and bridging
fri: pushups, rows, and leg raises
sat: squats and bridging
sun: rest

i'm still doing regular pushups, bodyweight rows, and squats. i want to keep doing them until i can't get anymore conditioning benefits from them. does working out each muscle 3 times a week like this sound safe?

oh yeah, i only do this routine for 2 weeks and then do a week of high intensity cardio and tricking then go back to that strength training routine. this way, i get strength and stamina.

That's certainly safe. You'll get some great results using this program.

That should be fine. Definitely not 'unsafe'.

This might not be so productive.

Don't be so quick to cycle... spend a few months or at least 6-10 weeks focusing on a particular attribute (and just maintaining the others), if you want to focus on one thing at a time.

Stay with one or the other for longer, long enough to make lasting gains. You won't make progress in a week and switching back and forth after only a few weeks will only hold you back.

My comment didn't edit ? Hmm.

What I said was the same as j man. Try a few months of strength training then a few weeks of conditioning or something.

And there's absolutely no reason you can't do both at once, even if you really want to focus you can still at least maintain the other....
