Pinterest for inspiration

Post by Glinda on Sun May 26, 2013 9:40 am

Okay, I know that there can be a little bit of snickering over Pinterest, but I recently joined and once you manage to avoid the wedding and child/birth pins, I've found it to be a great resource for training and food stuff.

Like, for instance, today I found a recipe for roasted chickpeas, that will make a really clean snack choice for me. And a chicken, avacado and mango salad. Good, yummy stuff.

And for workouts, I've found a variety of posts for every activity I'm involved with and gotten some ideas to incorporate into my workouts both now (for my stretch period) and that I'll be incorporating into my workouts over the next few weeks.

Maybe I'm finding it helpful, because, unlike Google, when I put something in the search engines the paid stuff does not come up first.

Well Dave, part of the joy of Pinterest is going over there and looking yourself!

Put what you're looking for into the search box and image after image of photos of what you're looking for will pop up. You don't have to be a member to browse. And when you find a pin you want to know more about, just click on it and when it expands hit the website button and it will take you to that article. The site is pretty efficient that way.

For instance, for fun, I typed in Doctor Who cardio (because its an ongoing joke in the series that part of being a Doctor's companion is having excellent cardio endurance!) and there was a cute poster referencing this, but there was also a link to a body weight conditioning workout cued into what you could do during a Doctor Who show (i.e. do 5 burpees every time you hear the Tardis engine).
