Kinesiology tape and tendonitis

Post by Rix on Fri Sep 13, 2013 2:58 pm

Shoulder popped out during sparring when I through a hook, shoulder came out of place. Healed over and has been fluffed up ever since. But I went to a physio and got it all sorted. Been doing a lot of R.I.C.E. (rest, ice, compression, elevate) and have been using kinesiology tape.  It works really well. Been using n it on my shoulder and knees during footy and cardio. Helps alot, also I'm gonna start a Pilates rehab for my shoulder and posture. Recommend all of it.

And weird. To me it looks really, really weird. More like totally messing up the elbow instead of releasing tensions and stuff... Since he started rotating this poor dudes arm I was waiting for a loud *crack*. But if it works...

I don't believe it releases tension at all, but rather supports a weakened/injured joint. Kinda like a splint or something I guess, but more flexible. There's a trend of crossfitters/spartan racers using K-tape like knee wraps (or just wrapping it uselessly around biceps, shoulders, etc.) which is retarded, but I think it can definitely be quite useful. Never tried it myself, though.
