leoletti ( tilles little sister) wants to train !!!

Hi there,
I'm tilles sister and he finally got me into Training regulary and posting my workouts on this Forum. I'm 17 years old...I played Tennis for a while and lifequard Swimming. But the last 2 years I actually did no sports except the pe stuff at School. So I'm kinda out of shape and want to get fit again. Tilles gave me his 2 10kg Kettlebells to Train with and showed me some exercises. I don't really like to bwe's,but I like to lift 'heavy stuff'...already did some farmers walk with tilles 24kg KBs :nod:

Sweet! Glad you're taking control of your life!
Mixing BWE and weights is a great way to get totally fit! (And not get too bored with the BWE)
Start a workout log and you'll get lots of help. There's a girl/woman here named Glinda. She likes to lift also. You guys may be able to share stuff.

Learn to squat,bench,dead lift, & over head press correctly. Once you can do that everything else will fall into place. Master the basic, once you think you got it, start over and pay closer attention.

I would add a pull-up and dip in there too, but other than that I agree completely!

Regarding the "basic," I'd say that will vary person to person depending on one's goals. 65ish year old Diana Nyad just set a record swimming from Cuba to Florida and my guess is she doesn't do much benching or DL's.

Like Ili said, I would think there's a greater possibility of needing to do (master) a dip or pullup...pulling your body up and over and maybe away from something, than there is needing to lift 1-2-3x your BW off the ground.

And even if you fancy lifting heavy, you should still develop a sufficient platform of strength in moving your own body around before you get really serious about moving external resistance.

I have to advocate bw exercises, you don't have to do all of them, just pick the ones you like.
Alot of women have trouble doing a single pullup, I think it should be a goal if you can't do one already.

As for lifts, one should do atleast one upper body pushing exercise, one upper body pulling, and either deadlifts or squats. Both if you like.

That's all the conventional info I know, I think you should try some exercises, find the ones you like, then center your routine around them and fill in the gaps.

Listen to the guys here little sister ;)

I made her a really basic training schedule with 3 main exercises ---> Swing/ one arm Swing, Goblet Squats and Pushups. Plus some assistance stuff like towel curls and supermans, jump squats for circuits at the end of every workout ( we could include some more bw stuff here). So basically she focuses on one of the three main exercises in every workout. Keep it simple to keep her training :D

Swing ---> to learn the 'proper and explosive' function of the hips
Goblet Suqats ---> to learn proper sqatting movement patterns
Pushups ---> to get some pushing strength, since she's not able to press the KBs yet and the Pushups are incline Pushups at hips height roughly

Since I'm not at home most of the time she has to go with these exercises, but next holidays I'll teach her how to deadlift and maybe how to back squat.

Also thinking about making a sandbag with you little sister :twisted:
