Great work ! :up:
I might add some details : 1 min rest between sets.
And the 1st sets are always max rep sets...the following 3 are roughly 70% of the number of reps of the max out set. Call them backup sets if you wish.

Nice workout littleone! There's a squat that's like the goblet squat called the tough squat. All you do is hold the weight out from the body with the arms at a 90 degree angle (lower part of the arm parallel with the floor). It really works the core!
Try it!

Re: leoletti in search of strength and fitness

Post by leoletti on Sat Oct 05, 2013 7:51 am

So tilles was back home the last few days and we experimented with some exercises. We did Deadlifts, Zercher Squats, Barbell Presses and some odd object Lifting.

My Deadlift 1RM is 52kg !
My OHP 1 RM is 22kg !

However I won't do more deadlifts any time soon simply because I'm not too familiar with the movement yet and Need some guidance. i'll be really hitting them in roughly 2 months when tilles stays for at least 2 weeks and we can really practise the deadlifts !

Workout yesterday :

OHP

22kg 1 rep

16kg
1. 7 reps 2. 4reps 3. 4reps

Zercher Squat
1. 7reps 2. 4reps 3. 4reps

The first set of each exercise was all out and the last two sets for practise/backup.

Finisher :

1 round : Pick up Sandbag from Floor,Shoulder it, Press it ---> for 5 reps then 5 seconds of Deadhang using false grip.

4 rounds as fast as possibe.
Did 4 rounds in 5:29.

The "Sandbag" is an old bag used for boxing, but I removed the chains and everything else...so it's basically a sandbag that weighs 12kg. As soon as I handle more reps I could remove the filling and add more weight !
Also I had no rules for the pick up and press Thing...i was basically shouldering it and then pushpressing it...sometimes had it in front of me and sometimes i placed it on my shoulder and pressed it from there !

Tuesday:
5min skipping :skip:  -> 300
I wanted to know how long I'm able to dead hang with false grip : 25 sec
When I started to train I hardly managed to deadhang 3 sec, so I'm kind of motivated of this progress :)

Wednesday :

- Zercher Squat -> 24 kg
1) 8 reps
then 3 sets of 6 reps each

- tilles said I should try to make the pushups harder by making them on "knee height", but I didn't manage to do so, so I made 3 sets of 10 reps - pushups ,as usual located mid height, but I had my hands closer together so it was harder nevertheless.

- finisher:
10 sec deadhang (false grip) + sandbagthing (pick it up, shoulder it, press it)
-> I did 3 rounds in 4:15min

looks like some decent workouts there.

I dunno how to progress to a first pushup. Maybe negatives would help?
Really gotta be careful with technique, if you're pushing with your arms/shoulders you'll have a way tougher time than if you learn to use your pecs.

Start with hands elevated on a sofa or chairs, or even doing wall pushups if you find that too challenging at first.  Work up to doing strict sets of 15 or so, and then move your hands down a little lower and start over.  If you work on it every day you should quickly be able to do full pushups.  The key is to make sure your body is properly aligned during all your initial progressions (i.e. don't do pushups with your knees on the ground) so that come time for you to do a full pushup your core and glutes will be strong and stable in the movement enough to keep your spine neutral.

That's basically what she's doing dave...with knee height she meant doing Pushups and place her hands on a bench that is at knee height.

Some inspiration ;)plus...after watching the video i felt reaalllyy weak :D
it's weird how women/girls are so ridiculously strong at overhead pressing compared to everything else (dipping, pulling, etc). also, how the hell can she do a chin-up + 25 kg (which is almost 50% bodyweight) if she can only do 10 pull-ups. wtf why the weird ratios?! anyway very impressive

Yesterdays' workout :

- Zercher Squat 24kg
1.) 9reps
then 3 sets of 6reps

- pushups - Hands wide apart and elevated around hips height

great workout leo !

on the pushups : how about you try to do holds in the normal pushup postition ? just get in the regular pushups postition and then hold as long as you can. O r you could do negatives...meaning : Get into the Pushup position and let yourself down as slooooowww as possible :)

I'll try that Till - next week..
The following week I'll be in Cracow, it's my last 'school-organized' trip :)
So I won't be able to train, but on friday I'll be back to workout :salute:
