I agree...I think that walking around the gym, flexing in front of the mirror and checking out chicks...is where all beginners should start in order to get HUGE!
and don't forget some curls...that's how I get my arms to bulge out of my t-shirts.

And do flyes instead of bench. This allows you to focus on the main muscle groups: chest, biceps and abs.

Had to listen to my roommate the toher day when she was talkin to her mother on the phone : ' Yeah, you know mom I started going to those classes...yeah ab training classes, we only train abs there. But I'll probably stop going there...I talked to a friend at work who had a personal trainier - and he said that you have to do Situps every day at least a year till you'll see any abs.'

And I was just sitting there and :facepalm: ...

thought to myself : What if I told you that you can get Abs without doing Situps every day ?

...so much Broscience everywhere :headbang:

Very true. Otherwise you might injure yourself.

Also, stop doing pull-ups, they completely destroy your rotator cuffs. No one is going to look at your back anyways. Man is not supposed to pull himself up, we are not monkeys!!! Man is supposed to curl a heavy object from the ground that hinders his path.

If it makes you feel better they are photoshopped, look closely how low the hand is in the first pic, compared to the reflection in the mirror. It's subtle but that is what makes it so effective.

Sorry Dave! :D I've seen guys like that too and it does look ridiculous, and I am pretty sure the original photos are guys like that (except maybe that last one), the guys reflection isn't as bad but it still looks like a major case of the chicken legs.

As I learn more about how the body works, I pay more and more attention to other peoples posture on body structure, how they hold themselves, move, and how they skeletal and muscular system is built.

No one should be lifting free weights at all. If you MUST do resistance training all you need is a couple of light circuits on Nautilus machines. Big muscles are icky and gross anyway! Stick to low impact step aerobics classes and slow walking on a treadmill while catching up on your soaps. Remember, you have to keep your breathing slow enough to talk to your treadmill neighbor about where you're going to eat after your incredibly calorie-burning workout. I'm serious, guys, high intensity anaerobic work and heavy weights will KILL you.

Actually, referring to Kroc, concentration curls are one basic, essential exercise.
Just sayin'. That however forces me to do those **** c-curls. You can do bodyweight curls as well - very manly in my book.

Don't put heavy weights in a backpack for dips, it will severely damage your spine. You may not have more than 15% of your bodyweight as additional weight in a backpack.

I'm putting 60 kg in my backpack, and I'm still fine lol.

A long time friend of mine is very overweight. Fitness has always been his achilles' heel.

Something to keep in mind though. Some of my college buddies, pretty average gym rats, are capable of benching 250+. Now, these aren't done with perfect form etc. but it's absolutely inexcusable that we (me) aren't stronger at pressing from all angles. Some of these fellows are also banging out 2/3 squats with 315. I'm not sure I can do that, either, myself. And I know at least one guy who doesn't really train his lower body but can rep out curls pretty strictly with 135 on a straight bar... and keep in mind this is a division III college gym.
Gotta work harder.

Can someone tell my why dafuq I'm researching barbell and bumper plate prices? Who needs that shizzle with the abstand anyways?

Did you notice she repeated herself (obviously reading off a script) when she said: "With the abstand, it's a full-body workout - not only is my core engaged, but my arms are also..." and another fail at: "I can do-...- lift them up high..."

The best thing about the Abstand is it will help your shirts keep their shape when you hang them over the top. Unlike the handrails on the treadmill which cause a lot of wrinkles
