Greetings to all

Post by 9918939 on Thu Sep 25, 2014 9:27 am

53 yr old male who is finally realizing I just ain't that young anymore.
Still hammer the bike almost daily for at least 10 miles in under 40 minutes to keep the HR above 130 but now I realize I have to mix it up.
I'll find 'my' routine and start slowly and take it from there.
I will definitely benefit from the experience and knowledge this forum has to offer- thanks.

Welcome, I'm 58 and GreekPT is 52. I'd say you're in good company but you'll have to be the judge of that!

How did you find us?

Thanks all- I will start a log and read the logs- and have just made a diy suspension training system as the old knees can't take the bike every day.
I used to hit the bodyweightculture site- not anymore.

I made my own suspension trainer as well. We pretty much all came over from BWC, what was your screen name over there?

Alas my log is quite boring, I guess.

If you're a long time cyclist you're likely having mobility issues, am I right?

If not, congrats and keep it that way.

Hey- not boring at all- a bit intimidating. Mobility is not too bad- my knees are probably on their way out- I was into powerlifting at a very competitive gym back in the day.
Actually I think cycling helps somewhat if I can stop hammering everyday.
Still working on the training schedule-

I think cycling is very helpful and easy on the knees if the bicycle is set up right. Good news on the mobility as well.

The cycling however has gifted me with some stubborn knots in the quads at best or scar tissue probably - not soo good - resulting in poor mobility. But I did work around that issue and am much better now.

Hey there Mr 99, have you ever done the Mt Washington hillclimb? My buddy lives in New Hampshire and he just did it. I'd like to try it one day for the bucket list.

I've never ridden every day, except when on a cycling 'vacation' in France or the Tahoe and wine country area and both of those were 7ish days straight.

I have many bikes but the main road bike is an '08 Cervelo SLC w/SRAM Red...with my 404's it's just under 15lbs. : )
