Great job on the burpees, Mike! I am glad that I could inspire you for a change. Usually it is the other way around!!

Thanks for the update on Rikrock too. It has been a long time. Looks like he is doing well for himself!

Thanks to you CC! I will be visiting the tri-burpees a lot this year.

Last week we moved back out into the dungeon - YAY! We did the Deck of Cards
(Way more fun than yoga)

Today. we warmed up with a portion of the Deck of Cards. Then, she did weights.
I did TVT with pull-ups
3 on the minute for 10 minutes
5 sets of 10 dips
1 -yes count it-1 skin the cat
The dungeon is waking up and calling!.....

Hey peeps! I'm still alive and kicking- just not as hard as I used to.
Still working out my church group.
So, I was enticed by Phil's work largely and decided to do a Murphy tribute.
No, I can't do the actual Murph , but I can do what I can. So , taking on an hour as a time, I did
10 dips
5 pull ups
15 squats
1 minute plank
X 10
49:00
I failed to go an hour because of the pull ups. When form goes, so do i.
Anyway, it was good to play harder than I have in a while.
Hope everyone is in good health!

Re: 2015 - Small Gains / Big Pains

Post by itlives on Thu Nov 19, 2015 8:11 pm

Hey guys, Rasta PM'd me so I thought I'd update my log as well as check on you sluggards.
Imagine how unhappy I was to find out I'm the only sluggo around here. It's good to see everyone still active
(and posting).

Life deals you cards and sometimes the hand you get is not the one you want/need. Since my wife left me , I've struggled to keep my house (used to be a home). I've given up on that. It was working me too hard. It's either going into foreclosure (or hopefully a "deed in lieu of sale"). It doesn't bother me losing the house as much as my dungeon. I've lost my church workout group which I had for 12 years because of this. My commute is now 60 miles a day instead of 10 so I'm on the road for approximately how long a workout would take.
I do have a small place to workout so that's good, but I do miss my group.
I am still dealing with my motorcycle crash. I'm doing yoga and taking regular acupuncture which helps a lot. I've found some supported yoga poses which are really helping me get back some mobility.
A typical workout looks like

6 pull ups
10 dips
10 burpees
X 10
or (my favorite lately)

6 pull ups
5 renegade man makers with 25 # db's
12 lateral raises with 12# db's
10/10 1-hand swings with 35#
5/5 assisted shrimps
12 calf raises
X 5
or

100 tri-burpees

That's about it. I didn't post my "problems" for sympathy, but more to let you know what has been draining a great deal of my energy. I believe the good Lord has put me right where he wants me. I'm living with my aged parents who need help in these last days (or years, who knows?). Any way, my spirits are good even if my body doesn't like burpees anymore.
BTW- I'll be 60 Dec 15 (now you can feel sorry for me -lol!)

11/28/15-

100 "almost" tri burpees
21:35

The "almost" because in my small dungeon, I don't have a pulll up bar. Only a power tower. So, one burpee, take one step, do a pull up.
Still, a good short workout.

Rasta, yes I do those. I got into the "squat for 30 minutes a day for 30 days" challenge a while back. I think it was Cesar that brought it up. It really helped with my hips and left knee problem. I never stopped (although I don't do 30 minutes) and it has been a good thing!

Sad to see the dungeon go... Nevertheless, you are more than the things that you own. You have owned them. They have not owned you, and you will continue to be the strong amazing person that we have all known you to be in spite of these setbacks!

That's a good word CC but if they are not paid for, they do own you. They own your time - it takes time to pay for them. It's ok though. the things that are still with me (except my motorcycle and hernia op) are all paid for.
I'm looking for a truck and it will be paid for. It's freeing, really.

Thanks for the kind words!
