Toe on my right foot locks pretty painfully during squats.

Post by Guitar_maniac on Fri Mar 13, 2015 6:28 pm

I have tried opening my hips and angles before squatting, it has helped a bit. but still i on some reps seem to "tighten" my toes strangely when going past a certain point, and then it locks out, and hurts pretty good :D Am i just too tight? If i put my hips way back, i fall, if i try to squat what feels good, i seem to be on my toes.

I have also started doing face the wall squats, the same problem persist on it, either i fall back, or i lock my toes. I suspect tightness, since on face the wall, i can't keep my toes near the wall without hitting it.

I have issues with the big toe on my right foot doing something like this sometimes. I simply grab it and pull hard to decompress it, and it feels better. Maybe you should do some foam rolling on your calves and lots of ankle stretches for a while.

I have actually been foam rolling my calves, they are pretty tight. I also stretch them at the gym/at home. They are the tightest spot in me.

Check your tibias anterior (the muscles on the front of your shins) and see if you can find any knots. And foam roll and massage the heck out of them, knots there can cause pain in the foot and toes.
