Al Ciampa - Heart Rate Training with Kettle Bell Swings

Good article from Al Ciampa regarding Heart Rate Training with Kettle Bell  Swings for those interested in daily training.  I've been trying to apply this for the last month or so.  It  takes a lot of work and patience with rest periods, but definitely allows fresh daily training and a focus on power and technique.

Interesting read. Added expense of a HR monitor if I decide to try it!

Ciampa is good people for sure. Using a HR monitor is probably the best (and only practical) biofeedback monitor if you're doing S&S as written.

I just posted a video of his in the swing thread, in fact.

Thanks J Man, he's written some great articles. I tried using the talk test, but the HR monitor seems to be a lot closer to the mark.

Definitely worth it Dave! I'm using a Polar H7 chest strap which syncs with Polar Beat/Flow app on smart phone. Paid $29 AUS for it, works well.

Cool, well since we're on par, that's only 29 bucks for me as well, but I don't have a smart phone and am not getting one. Do I need one to make it worthwhile?

http://www.amazon.ca/Polar-Heart-Rate-Sensor-Blue/dp/B00KKNK8T0/ref=sr_1_1/181-7985449-5566652?ie=UTF8&qid=1451645559&sr=8-1&keywords=polar+h7+heart+rate+sensor

This is what I'm using, luckily got mine discounted clearance product in AUS, a bit cheaper. The link gives details on Bluetooth compatibility.  Else you could look at a Fitbit or the like wrist watch sensor, which will be a lot more expensive.  I prefer the chest strap for accuracy, still not sure about the wrist sensors.

If you found Al's article interesting, the link below is a good discussion on the topic.

You had me at hello! Okay Chris, count me in, but it'll be some time before I figure out my HR monitor.
