PAPA Strength: The Journey

Post by Cesar on Fri Jan 01, 2016 2:58 pm

So I have been focusing on HIIT which I am enjoying.  I have gone down from a 38 waist to a 34 maybe a little less.   I believe I am down to somewhere in the 190 Lbs.  I feel great, have been remaining pretty consistent.  I have been putting in a lot of overtime during this past year and not sleeping well.  I would like to keep on the HIIT and further plan on joining the monthly challenges as discussed in another thread.  I have been neglecting pull ups, my beloved KBs and other weighted movements.  I have my 36kg KB and would like to strict press it, snatch it, C&P it, TGU it - will take time.  Anyway, plan is to remain healthy, keep the weight off while gaining strength.

You will, as long as you keep up the consistency (and work on your sleep! I know I have to as well!). Happy new year Cesar, Antoinette, Cesitar and Santino!

Thanks Dave. I plan on keeping consistent for all of 2016. I also have my fitbit and joined a fitbit group that holds challenges monthly - survivor like the TV show - you gotta meet your daily goal. Mine is 15k steps. I average between 15k and 20k daily. Yes sleep is key - work and family prevent sleep from happening. LOL.

LOL...I do like that!

I often think about going to basics;
Vertical Push Pull
Horizontal Push pull
Knee dominant and hip dominant
Core

Maybe 10 mins blocks of each in addition to 12 min hiit?

Yes on me! LOL.
When growing up in Peru; Father = padre.  Dad = Papa.
We would call my father, papi.  I am not fond of "papi" and I am not a Dad/Daddy. My friend's kids call their father "Dada." Boys call me - Papa and they call Antoinette - Mama.

I am going to have to throw in some heavy sandbag carries and squats too, Bill, for that PAPA strength!

16:00 Hiit

6 emtom;
5 neutral grip pull ups
5/5 oh press with 16kg kb

Start as prescribed. Dropped pull ups to 3 on round 3 and oh press to 3 on round 4. I was gassed at round 5 and pushed thru round 6. New goal is to get to round ten. Adjust as needed, I say.

I am still following videos. I go on YouTube and follow the bodyrock hiitmax series. It is a total of 70 different workout sessions. The way it works is you start fresh every week. Each week has 5 sessions. Day one you do first video. Day 2 you add first to second video. Day 3 you add three to the first two and so on until day 5 that you strong all five videos together. Lots of calisthenics, polyps, burpees. Fun times. Due to time constraints. I often only able to string three videos for a total of 36:00.
This is the first video that explains it all.

Trying to CC. This morning 01.13.2016 @ 05:32:07 not really motivated to get it done. Pushed myself to go to cold garage and got the following done;

7 EMOTM;
3/3 oh press with 24kg kb
3 neutral grip pull ups
Plan was to hit 10 rounds of emtom. Ran over on the last min. Took a quick break to catch my breathe and then completed the last 3 rounds to finish the 10 rx'ed rounds.

Work this morning, then chiropractic appt the. Home. Hopefully boys get to bed on time so I may get my 16:00 Hiit in this evening.
