Thank you guys.
The accident - I guess it happened as I snatched Flora 12 - 14 kg away from something. - was in mid Sept.
The infiltration was in mid November. Since then it's getting better each day, no meds.

The muscles, however, are still super nervous.

2016-02-14 Sun.:
Walk
12 Pull ups
Gymnastic

Need a bit of rest after the unilateral exercises, a few conservative presses today probably and squats.

Did Pulls, Rows, Back squats with 40 kg - woohoo!, DB Press, Bent Press again, stabilizing exercises and
Finally one(!) BW TGU 1/1
And one with an 6 kg ball: 1/1

The problem is not the weight itself, it's the handling. I had a hard time wrestling with the 6 kg DBs and at the TGU I felt like a schoolgirl

A Walk with Flora to top it off - or was it grocery shopping?

Dave, ATG - I think the "A" should be banned, lol.
Not yet with weights. Mobility seems quite good though. I'd like to venture into pistol squats - maybe later in the year.

2016-03-02 Wed.:
60 min biking
walk
Gymnastic
Dips: 3 x 12
BW Squats: 3 x 15

Squats 2 x 8 kg KB: 3 x 15
Strict Press 8 kg KB. 3 x 10
___
2016-03-05 Sat.:
80 min walk
Gymnastic.
___

Noticed, my arms and upper body are probably quite strong again - just not hauling around big weights very soon,
but a shirt I purchased last fall was fitting very tight over my chest and arms today - which kept me wondering.

For today, I think I'll be doing dips, curls and bw squats or similar, easy going.

Guys, last week the SSD in my MacBook died. That makes updating a little more complicated. I didn't loose any data and I had a smaller SSD left, so the computer was fixed and donated to daughter and wife, because the disk was too small for my needs, but still plenty of room for my daughter, whose files were transferred and for her nothing much changed.
I still have my new iPad and a keyboard so here we go - I guess I'm going through a consolidating phase with computers here XD

2016-03-21 Mon.:
60 min bike
Rehab - like last Fri., except:
Rows 2 x 25 kg (couldn't remember and put the same weight on the machine like the guy before me had)
Bench Press: 40 kg (instead of 50) because I had to use the oldschool instable bench without guidance, but I could've used 50 kg as well as I found out doing the exercise.
Gymnastic
___

Sooo, interesting to see, the focus has shifted on to the rehab exercises and I don't feel like doing very much besides the daily Gymnastic as I need rest in between. Swimming was cancelled last week unfortunately but I wasn't much feeling like it anyway. ;)

Thank you Dave:

I's about 90 % better and considering how tight my back was sometimes before - despite the aiding mobility exercises, it's very good.

I don't have any numb feeling left in my left foot and I think (almost) full strength returned. Still, I feel impaired, because not all strength has returned and the muscles are still nervous, but recuperate fast.

Ther is still a slightly piercing sensation in my gluteus and the lower calf, seems the nerve is still slightly irritated, because of still bits sticking out where there shouldn't be any or chemical irritation by still oozing out liquid, or both.
BUT, for the next couple of months I try to rehab on my own with the possibility of returning to my physiotherapist if needed.

Currently - after the rehab being done, I'm a bit uninspired. Training at home is challenging atm.
I made an appointment at a gym (Flower Power Fitness) which actually looks pretty solid despite the silly name, it's at 7:00 in the morning next Tuesday - ouch!
(so it means, I have to get up at 5:30 in order to be on the bike at 6:15 to get there in time)
I'll keep you updated.

Flower Power
was nice, we did squats and lot of work with a sling (?)
That also included pistol squats
BUT after calculating the price for a membership, I was appalled.
BUT (again) the Isa surprised me a few days later with the suggestion of a partner membership for two years.
THEN after recalculating and phoning the health insurance, it's actually doable, half of the costs are paid by the insurance.
So probably we'll do it. Now Isa has to get a pair of shoes and make an appointment for herself.

Re: Surviving 2016

Post by Avocadoshake on Thu Jun 16, 2016 2:13 pm

Guys, my bad. I currently don't own a computer - except the iPad and old iPhone. And I have no desk to put it atm. that keeps it save frm fraggles.
So the only option is to pull it out in the evening and post. Most of the time though, I used my few quiet hours to do my rehab gymnastic or/ and learn Japanese or to draw something.

I still can post my boring efforts which consisted of squats, squats, squats and push ups, side raises curls and presses and some squats.

BUT: Today I joined the silly Flower Power Gym and I did: Squats XD

I built with the help of the trainers a stabilizing program without looking at weights. It includes normal squats, TRX assisted pistols (oh boy) back lunges (unstable), full rom assisted slow pull ups, even foam rolling - all to achieve in about 45 min.

The next time I can get a picture of the whole plan.

This transfers the training to a different location than home, wich is probably best atm.
Getting the kids to bed, making place for exercises - by then it's almost 10. Doing something. for the brain - aka learning or drawing and doing exercises - it's too much atm.

Mostly, I did squats or something for the upper body with the kettlebells. I still lack the stability to handle heavy weights. I painfully experienced this last week - lifting four year old Flora into her seat in the car - gave me a little setback, although I felt ready for it and did it in a controlled way.

Swimming and commuting by bike is still an issue, and we'll see, how things progress.

This year is truly about surviving without operation for me, isn't it?

Keep working at it. You'll get it all back without surgery.

Thank you guys. An op is only the last resort and is no option for me atm. Tempting though, I met a nurse who had just one and is carefree jumping around, ok not jumping.

Ok, another isuue is, I've reinvented myself and training methods so many times, I'm just momentarily exhausted, so just building a plan with a trainer and sticking to it, seemed like a good idea.

BTW: Isa joined before me. I was checking out suitable gyms and she jumped right in (after my recommendation).

Today was an ok day:

We both did our exercises and the children were at the "kids club" and enjoying themselves, they really had fun.
We'll do this every weekend from now on.

20 min fast walking at the threadmill - disk friendly, but meh!

3 times this week, my well being has clearly improved!
